Work out roughly when you first decided to do something about this.
For most people it isn't recent. Two years, three, sometimes considerably more — a decision that's been live and unactioned long enough to have become part of the furniture.
The Intention Is Not the Problem
Worth clearing up, because the usual interpretation is a character one and it's wrong.
You've intended to do this continuously for years. That isn't weak intent — sustained intention over that period is unusual. Most things people mean to do drop off the list within months.
The intention survived. What never appeared was a version of the activity that could survive alongside your actual life.
What Was Actually Being Attempted
Look at the specific plans that failed. They almost all required the same thing: a block of time, with attention, that you'd choose over the alternative.
That isn't a small ask. It's the hardest thing to obtain in an adult week, and it's the first requirement of nearly every method on the market. So the failure was extremely predictable, and it has happened to you the same way several times.
The pattern isn't three years of not trying. It's three years of trying the same structurally difficult thing.
The Only Useful Lesson From Three Years
You now have good evidence about what doesn't work for you specifically, which is more than most people have.
You know a scheduled session won't hold. You know a streak mechanic produces compliance rather than ability. You know a class gets attended for a while and then doesn't.
That isn't a record of failure. It's a specification. Whatever comes next has to require no scheduled time, no decision, and no willpower on a bad day. Anything failing those three will go the same way as the others, and you can rule it out immediately.
Which Narrows It Considerably
Very little in language learning meets that specification, which is useful — it makes the choice small rather than overwhelming.
Three years of evidence, applied properly, is worth more than three years of enthusiasm.
About Outputly
Outputly meets the specification by design. No scheduled time, no session to open, nothing to decide. It runs in hours you're already spending, on days you'd have skipped anything else.
